Lafayette American is seeking a Production Artist to work on a wide variety of production-related assignments. The Production Artist will work with Lafayette American’s Creative, Design and Account teams to assist with presentation design, formatting, layouts, file cleanup and file preparation. This role requires an understanding of final file production/troubleshooting for print and digital.
Our ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a high-pressure environment with fast deadlines while still possessing the ability to catch missed edits. The Production Artist will be responsible for building mechanicals and pre-flighting for print. Graphic design experience is a plus, as the position requires interpreting and applying distinct Brand Guidelines and implementation of graphic design principles (typography, use of the grid, color, etc.). The candidate must have expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software – most specifically InDesign.
This position reports to the Head of Design.
Prepare and finalize materials including decks, presentations and collateral assets while utilizing distinct Brand Standards for each project.
Work with Creative, Design, and Account teams to make edits for both print and digital projects.
Prepare and finalize files for print production to appropriate production specifications.
Consistently and creatively showcase a strong sense of typography and composition.
Demonstrate innovative thinking throughout design process.
Communicate effectively throughout project lifecycle with entire team, both internal and external.
Prepare thorough and accurate files for print and digital projects.
Represent Lafayette American and client relationships on production, at meetings and on-site when necessary.
Skills / Qualifications:
At least (2) years of proven work experience as a Production Artist or similar role
A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating varied capabilities must be submitted with application to be considered.
Ability to work within detailed Brand Standards.
Must be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Excellent attention to detail, consistency and spelling.
Strong grasp of design principles, including typography, color, imagery and composition.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Willingness and enthusiasm in an always-on environment.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of digital file management and server navigation.
Deep understanding of print production and ability to prepare files correctly for pre-press. Including: Assigning color profiles, making file conversions, and understanding file types.
