The Too Long, Do Read of it is that Lafayette American is looking for a Brand Designer in possession of passion, curiosity and experience to utilize on a wide variety of design-related (and even non-design related) challenges. In tangible terms, the Brand Designer will work with Lafayette American’s design department to develop concepts, utilize design strategies and create incredible solutions for interactive, print and brand identity projects. In abstract terms, the Brand Designer will come to the table with big, swirling ideas, grand visions, an appreciation of simple beauty and an unyielding work ethic.
This position reports to the Head of Design. It’s a really big deal.
Responsibilities:
Prepare design mock-ups, decks and presentations
Concept, ideate and execute branding systems
Consistently and creatively showcase a strong sense of typography and composition
Demonstrate innovative thinking throughout design process
Communicate effectively throughout project lifecycle with entire team, both internal and external
Create functional asset specs for web development partners
Prepare files for web and print production
Efficiently manage all external vendors, including printers/production/prototypes
Represent Lafayette American and client relationships on production, at meetings and on-site when necessary
Skills / Qualifications:
Must have at least three (3) comprehensive branding case studies in portfolio to be considered for the position
A comprehensive portfolio demonstrating varied capabilities must be submitted with application to be considered
Ability to convey ideas and concepts through design
Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Deep understanding of digital storytelling and social platforms
Excellent attention to detail, consistency and spelling
Strong grasp of design principles, including typography, color, imagery and composition
Knowledge of print production and ability to prepare files correctly for pre-press
Web programming experience
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Willingness and enthusiasm in an always-on environment
Self-motivated
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Openness to miscellaneous tasks as needs may vary from program to program
